SEO Scams aren’t a new thing. This particular one has been around since 2009.
A client of mine received the following email today and emailed asking if they would receive any benefit’s from the services offered by the person sending the email or if I could provide the same services.
The first thing that stood out for me was that the email didn’t appear to have been written by an English speaker and many things in the email were not relevant to the website. After a quick Google search I found that this exact email has been doing the rounds since 2009.
This got me reading an article from an American company called Vital. https://vtldesign.com/digital-marketing/search-engine-optimization/seo-email-scam/ The article goes in depth about how to spot a scam and why it’s not in your best interests to take them up on the offer.
At Gray Media Limited we are by no means SEO experts, but we can help you make a good solid start with your SEO and if needed help you get in touch with someone who knows more about it than us. Don’t just trust some random person on the internet with a gmail address.
The email is below for your entertainment.
Subject: General Enquiry

I just received this exact same email after recently setting up my site.|
I decided to google the name and saw your post confirming the scam. Thanks for the heads up!
Glad I could help Johnny. Too many people get caught out by opportunists like this.
February 2018 and it’s still doing the circuit 🙁
I guess until people stop making money from it they will keep doing it sadly.
Just got the same one word for word today – I only got indexed by Google yesterday, so “Moris” moves fast I suppose. Even though the email looked suspect, thanks for putting the article up to confirm those suspicions.
Glad I could help.
